Mozambique’s President recognizes women entrepreneurship in Dondo

President pleased with Gapi’s role in promoting women entrepreneurs

I am pleased with what I see, so I congratulate Gapi for its role in promoting businesswomen and entrepreneurship in Dondo!” – said Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi, in his appreciation for the work that Gapi has been doing promoting women entrepreneurship.   Nyusi made these remarks last Friday 9th of March while visiting an agri-business fair held in Dondo district, Sofala Province, where Gapi was represented by its Beira delegation.

During his visit the President was in conversation with women from the Associations “Mulheres Chiverano – (Understanding among Women)” and “Tendeni Timarice Utcherengue – (Let’s End Poverty)” who all exhibited their products that ranged from maize flour, legumes, rice and guava compotes all produced with the assistance of Gapi.

Gapi’s work is done in partnership with the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Action under the Women Empowerment and Skills Development Program, financed by the African Development Bank.   Gapi was chosen by the Government to take a leading role in a three program that includes 1,342 women from the provinces of Manica and Sofala, because of Gapi’s proven experience in promoting entrepreneurship and business creation.

Gapi’s overall objective is to reduce poverty and promote all-inclusive growth. To this end, it provides technical and financial assistance to empower and increase the income of rural women through improved agricultural marketing and agro-processing skills.
